Meeting people safely
Everything on InRealLife leads to meeting real people in real places. Here's how we keep that safe, and what you can do.
- Before you join: a count, faces blurred.
Before you meet
- Everyone takes a live selfie at sign-up, checked by a person. A new host's first plan is checked too.
- Faces stay blurred until you're in the same plan.
- Hosts choose who joins and can limit a plan to people they trust.
- The exact address is revealed the day before, only to the people going.
- On the day: find each other, only near the place.
On the day
- Plans happen in public places. Dates never take place in a private home or hotel.
- You see each other on the map only near the meeting place, and only while you're both sharing your location.
- No private messages: the host can post short updates to everyone coming.
- Leave whenever you want. You don't owe anyone your time.
After, or if something feels wrong
- Tell us how it went, including when a plan didn't happen.
- Report a person or a plan at any time. They aren't told who submitted the report, and a person reads every report within 24 hours.
- Block anyone. They leave your plans, in every app, without being told.
- A ban applies across all three apps, and banned people can't simply come back.
- Disagree with a decision? Write to appeals at inreallife.technology.
What you can do
- Meet at the place listed. Don't move it to a private home.
- Tell a friend where you're going, or share the plan with them.
- Arrange your own way home, and keep your phone charged.
- Group chats outside the app may reveal your phone number. IRL's blocking and reporting tools don't apply there.
- Do you appear in a post linked after an activity, or one shared by IRL? Ask us to take it down at takedown at inreallife.technology: it's done within 24 hours.
What we check, and what we don't
The apps are for people 18 and over, and rated that way in the stores. We do not run criminal background checks. No check is perfect, so meet in public and trust your instincts.
Child safety
InRealLife is for people 18 and over. We have zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE), including any material showing it.
- The live selfie at sign-up is checked by a person, and anyone who looks under 18 is refused.
- Report a member, a photo or a plan from the app: ā¢ā¢ā¢ ā Report. A person reads it within 24 hours, and a child safety report comes first.
- An account involved in child sexual abuse or exploitation is banned from all three apps, and the data we hold is preserved for the authorities.
- We report it to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC), to Pharos in France, and to the police in the country concerned.
Child safety contact: safety at inreallife.technology. If a child is in danger now, call 112 in Europe, 911 in North America.
